Master Planning – Agro-Processing Hub

The aim is to develop Agro-processing hub for processing agro commodities in Quibala and Cacuzo municipalities of Kwanza Sul and Malanje provinces respectively with excellent state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities and professional management to attract and support investments. AGRO-PROCESSING HUB configured as sustainable, eco-agro park and smart elements, leverage the agro sector ecology and industrial symbiosis.

Given the agriculture base in KwanzaSul and Malanje provinces and the concept ofAGRO-PROCESSING HUB for taking regional advantage, theproposed project will further strengthen theiragricultural position apart from enabling theadjoining provinces to get benefitted from thisintervention thereby contributing to theeconomy of Angola. The planning exercise considers thegeographic, demographic, raw materialresources, industrial, economic, and socialcharacteristics of the region for positioning theproposed Agro-processing hub and it is in this context that themaster planning of the project assumes itssignificance.

The planning for the proposed Agro-processing hub isin line with the broad objective of establishingan excellent business environment targetedprincipally at the agricultural and alliedsectors.

Each zone within the Agro-processing hub will bededicated to a particular sector and would bea self-sufficient unit on the aspects of facilities, the ability to attract investors and revenuegeneration.

From the planning perspective, theAgro-processing hub is a package of several land uses. Theindustrial activities are prime activities, andseveral other activity zones enhance theefficiency of production. These include linkinginfrastructures, marketing infrastructure, R &D services, community facilities, and greenspaces.

Social and commercial amenitiesplanned in the Agro-processing hub will provide convenienceto visitors as well as to the working populationwithin the Agro-processing hub. Landscaping and greenerydesigned as part of Agro-processing hub development willhouse the project in a lush green environment.

Coverage areas and objectives

Agro-processing hub and Agriculture transformation centre essentially create the critical infrastructure to support thedevelopment of the agri supply chain fromfarm to fork. It is necessary to createthe infrastructure in Agro-processing hub and Agriculture transformation centre, takinginto account the factors impeding the growthof the agribusiness sector regardinginfrastructure provision.

Development elements and activities

A. Site grading
B. Boundary wall and fencing – A compound wall all along the processing area & Chain link fencing all along the non-processing area
